CLASSICAL PORTRAITURE ARTIST,  LANDSCAPE , STILL LIFE, WILD LIFE

 Debra G. DeRouen  a native of New Iberia, Louisiana, moved with her family to the small town of Loreauville 10 miles from New Iberia.  Her father and grandfather were home builders; and musicians .   Grandfather  trained five of his children to play musical instruments, our family was surrounded with music.  All types of music constantly played within the home.

During her youth,  to keep busy on summer vacation  she started drawing, so interest in drawing began at  twelve.  A family friend introduced her to painting with oils at fifteen.  

After working as an accounting manager for twenty years, she returned to her interest  in drawing and painting. 

To accomplish the arts, self taught lessons was the first step, then taking workshops in portraiture. With enough experience, she decided to open an art instruction studio in 2008. 

Debra exhibits her paintings throughout her home town and surrounding areas and works from her studio in, New Iberia, Louisiana 

 To broaden her knowledge of portraiture, she traveled out of state to Michelle Tully- portrait workshop 2008, and Tony Ryder- portrait workshop 2009.
